Abstract
Cyanodictyon planctonicum nov. sp. is described as a new species of Cyanophyceae/cyanobacteria from the plankton of eutrophic lakes in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. C. planctonicum is characterized by relatively large, netlike colonies composed of pseudofilaments with rod-shaped cells. This taxon was previously identified as C. reliculatum (LEMM.) GEITLER. A new record of this poorly known species from Sweden by KOMKARKOVA-LEGNFROVA and CRONBERG (1994) and comparison with the original description of C. reticulatum (LEMMERMANN 1898) warrant the designation of a separate species
