Abstract
The complete amino acid sequence of an invertebrate calcium channel alpha-subunit from housefly (Musca domestica) larvae (designated Mdl alpha(1)) has been deduced by cDNA cloning and sequence analysis. Mdbl alpha(1) shares higher percent sequence identity with 1,4-dihydropyridine (DHP)-sensitive L-type than with DHP-insensitive calcium channels. As shown by whole mount in situ hybridization and immunostaining Mdl alpha(1) is predominantly expressed in the larval body wall musculature.
