Abstract
In this paper, we describe a prototyping platform for wireless networking devices. The simulator modules constitute a virtual communication network which can be used for architecture analysis, functional verification and software development at an early stage of system design. The simulator enables the easy and efficient development of application software. We use the simulator for the construction of an exemplary Bluetooth location system. By modeling physical effects like radio signal propagation our simulator is capable of evaluating the performance of distributed applications in a wireless network under real world constraints.
