Abstract
High efficiency solar cells require large surface layers as acceptor. Nanoporous titanium dioxide film is an optimum choice for that purpose. A variety of polymer gels with different chem. compn., architecture, porosity, and surface area have been used as templating materials for the fabrications of nanoporous TiO2 networks. The resulting networks have vastly different structure, with the porosities as high as 99​% and surface areas ranging from 5 to 100 m2g-​1. A Philips CM 12 high resoln. transmission electron microscope equipped with Edax 9800 analyzer was employed for anal. of the finer details of the local structures. The prodn. of TiO2 structures using polymer gel templating procedures provides a means to develop highly porous and high surface area materials and is a valuable addn. to other methods of templating used to form controlled structures. The details about the prepns. and characterization will be discussed.
