Abstract
It has been suggested that Rb4O6 should be a half-metallic ferromagnet with the magnetic moment carried by the hyperoxide anions and a Curie temperature above room temperature. In the present work, magnetic measurements are presented that were performed to investigate this prediction. These measurements provide strong evidence that Rb4O6 is a magnetically frustrated system with a magnetic transition temperature of below 10 K.
