Abstract
An element of the third main group in the oxidation states 2 and 3 is present in the compound Ga3Te3I 1equation image, which may be crystallized according to the Bridgman method. The one-dimensional, macromolecular structural element consists of GaTe3/5I tetrahedra with GaIII centers and Ga2Te6/3 units with GaII centers. Other E3Te3Hal compounds (E = Ga, In; Hal = Cl, Br, I) have also been synthesized.
