Abstract
The ternary compounds LaAg3Al2 (1), La2Ag9.7Al7.3 (2), Ce2Ag8.8Al8.2 (3), Pr2Ag10Al7 (4), Ce3Ag2.6Al6.4 (5), Pr3Ag3.1Al5.9 (6), Ce3Ru4Al12 (7), LaAg6Al5 (8), CeAg3.1Al7.9 (9), Pr6Ag13Al10 (10), LaNiAl (11), LaNi2Al3 (12) and Ce3Co3Al4 (13) were prepared from the melt. The crystal structures of (1)–(6) [close relationship to the Laves phases] and (7)–(10) [icosahedral units] can be derived from known binary types; the crystal structures of (11)–(13) were previously unknown.
