Abstract
Using Np-237 Mossbauer spectroscopy [1) on NpPd2Al3 a second-order magnetic transition was found at 38K. At low temperatures the hyperfine spectrum consists of an overlay of three magnetic patterns indicating a (squared) modulated structure, The ordered moment on Np is 1.67 muB. A tetravalent charge state for Np is deduced. Our results are compared with data on the heavy-fermion compound UPd2Al3.
