Abstract
Substantially more chemoselective than conventional Grignard reagents are the organomagnesium compounds RMgL (R = alkyl, aryl; L = OTf, OTs, OAc…). Competition reactions with RMgL and the aldehyde/ketone pair 1/2 show that 3 is formed preferentially with a selectivity of 95–99%. Conventional Grignard reagents RMgX (X = halogen) afford
