Abstract
Disulfonimides have recently emerged as powerful (pre)-catalysts, especially in Lewis acid organocatalysis. Herein, we survey the development of these catalysts, their application in asymmetric catalysis using the concept of asymmetric counteranion-directed catalysis (ACDC), and mechanistic studies that aim to elucidate the catalytic cycle and the intermediates involved.
