Abstract
The decision of 14 February 2011 by the Provincial Court of Sucumbios culminates an unusual experience in the history of civil litigation for human rights violations by worldwide-operating corporations. Since the loosing party has no assets in Ecuador all hopes of the plaintiffs to collect the money lay with “exporting” the decision to other forums. In February 2013 an Ontario court stayed the recognition of the Ecuadorian ruling. The present study focuses on the possibilities of a different outcome in Spain, in light of the Spanish Private International Law regime
