Abstract
Any act of information processing can be decomposed into the component operations of transfer, storage and modification, and neural information processing is no exception. Here, we review two recent attempts to quantify active information storage carried by neural signals, and suggest an optimal experimental strategy to measure the active information storage as seen by other neurons or brain areas.
