Abstract
Besides laserspectroscopy and spectroscopy in the x-ray range, spectroscopy in the optical regime can be carried out at the Heidelberg electron beam ion trap. In order to enhance the precision of optical spectroscopy, a new monochromator was implemented in the established experimental setup. In comparison to the monochromator previously used the linear dispersion decreased by a factor of eight while the resolution power increased by a factor of five. To guide the light of the ions coming from the trap into the monochromator, a new optical system was built. The first ion light of the setup was the 1s22s22p2P1/2 -> 2P3/2 - transition in Ar13+.
