Abstract
Field strength of 7T and 9.4T became available for human magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) recently. In vivo NMR spectroscopy benefits from increased spectral separation and signal-to-noise gain at these fields, but technical challenges such as shortening of the EM wavelength and T2 and T2* relaxation times call for novel approaches in transmit and receive hardware, B0 shimming and RF pulse design. The current state of ultra-high field in vivo 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy is discussed and solutions to the ultra-high field specific problems presented.
