Abstract
In this guest post, Benjamin Braun (https://twitter.com/BJMbraun), a senior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, argues that central bankers do not simply respond to markets, but actively shape them. This aspect of their power, he suggests, receives too little attention. His recently published article (https://academic.oup.com/ser/advance-articleabstract/ doi/10.1093/ser/mwy008/4883362?redirectedFrom=fulltext), “Central Banking and the Infrastructural Power of Finance”, expands on the points made here.
