Zusammenfassung
The aim of this paper is to assess the empirical plausibility of a vastly popular view of the unemployment problem, endorsed by international organizations like the OECD and the IMF, as well as policy-makers in several countries. In a nutshell, this holds that unemployment is caused by labour market institutions and should be addressed through systematic institutional deregulation.
