Abstract
Bacudacnitis grandistomis gen. et sp. nov. (Nematoda: Cucullanidae) is described from the
intestine of an Amazonian catfish, Pseudodoras niger (VALENCIENNES). The new genus resembles
Truttaedacnitis PETTER, 1974 but differs from it in having: 1) a bulbous anterior extremity, without
a markedly inclined mouth; 2) an esophastome without a complex set of thickened cuticularized
pieces in the lining; 3) a prominent buccal strut; 4) two pairs of cephalic papillae rather than three;
5)an excretory pore projecting above the surface, forming a rounded protuberance; 6) a male without
a pre-anal sucker.
