要旨
Chemical analyses were carried out on 80 water samples taken
from south-eastern Amazonia along a 1500 km long E-W transect on the
Transamazônica between Altamira and Humaitâ in Brazil. The majority
of waters rises on the Central Brazilian Shield which, comprises acidic
rocks and are consequently poor in dissolved minerals (Na, K, Mg, Ca,
Cl, SO4, HCO3 ). The rivers are relatively rich in alkaline metals and
correspondingly poor in alkaline-earth metals. HCO3 is usually the pre-
dominant major anion. Electrolyte rich waters of the calcium-carbonate
type occur sporadically.
