Abstract
The genetic variability and population structure of cladocerans has been investigated in the
pond species Daphnia magna (e. g. HEBERT 1974; YOUNG 1979) and D. pulex (HEBERT & CREASE 1980;
LYNCH 1983). For recent reviews see HEBERT (1978) and YOUNG (in press). Relatively few data are
available on species inhabiting large lakes (JACOBS 1982; MORT 1983). Here I present results of investigations on the small D. cucullata in the Schöhsee at Plön (Vest Germany).
