Abstract
Three algal strains of the genus Pediastrum were isolated from the Great Plöner Lake, FRG. Two of them were identified as Pediastrum boryanum and the other of Pediastrum duplex. Their guanine + cytosine ratios (GC %) ranged between 53 and 60%. Their base compositions and morphological variabilities were compared with those of the cultured species. The systematic positions of these three strains as well as four cultured algae were discussed and subsequently rearranged.
