Abstract
After a long period of fruitless attempts, three-dimensional crystal of membrane proteins are now available. The best of the crystals are suited for high-resolution structure determination by X-ray crystallography. The use of small detergents and small amphiphilic molecules during crystallization proved to be of great value.
