Abstract
The potential profile and the forces of interaction between two dielectric cylinders of radii R1 and R2, dielectric constants e1 and e2, and acted on by a transverse external field, is evaluated in the limiting case of the two bodies in contact. The results for a static field carry over for alternating fields, provided that dielectric losses do not contribute significantly.
