Abstract
Polarisation-dependent surface-extended X-ray-absorption fine-structure experiments have been performed on Cu(210)–(1×2)-O. The analysis shows that oxygen chemisorbs in long-bridge sites along the [001] direction with nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour O–Cu distances of 1.81±0.02 Å and 1.91±0.03 Å respectively. A missing-row reconstruction with missing [001] Cu rows is suggested.
