Abstract
Resonant Auger electrons from the decay of the atomic Xe 4d−15/26p(J=1) state excited with linearly polarized light are shown to have a strong spin polarization. The core hole states are not oriented in this case. We found polarization values ranging from −0.46 to 0.57. For the decay to the 5p4(1D2)6p(2P1/2) state the ratio of the radiationless decay matrix elements and their relative phase, including its sign, are derived.
