Abstract
The alloying effect of Ag on the reconstruction in Au surfaces has been studied by means of reflection electron microscopic (REM) observation. The reconstructions in the (111) and (100) surfaces of the alloys disappear at approximate Ag concentrations of 7% and 10%, respectively. The dependence of the (111) surface reconstruction on the Ag concentration shows not a linear relation but an abrupt change.
