Abstract
This episode of Luso-scapes features a conversation among early-career scholars, Bernardo Almeida, Méabh Cryan, and Laura Gerken as they join host and co-producer Michelle Gowan to discuss land formalization, a central theme that emerged during the 2021 Lusophone Land Legacies symposium. In this roundtable-style discussion, our guests explore land formalization by contemplating the continuities and discontinuities as well as the similarities and differences in the colonial experience and by considering its impact of contemporary land formalisation projects and claim-making practices, including State, customary, private, and corporate claims, in the context of their research settings in Timor-Leste and Mozambique.
