Abstract
We have performed ellipsometric measurements of the infrared
dielectric response of RuSr2GdCu2O8 polycrystalline ceramics.
The transformation of the Cu-O bending phonon mode at 288 cm(-
1) in the normal state to a broad absorption band at 308 cm(-1)
in the superconducting state has been observed. This
observation strikingly resembles the c-axis optical
conductivity data reported for the YBa2Cu3O6.45 crystals. The
anomalous softening of the Ru-related phonon mode at 190 cm(-1)
has been observed on decreasing temperature below the magnetic
T-M = 133 K transition temperature. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science
