Abstract
High-resolution laser-induced fluorescence spectra of Si35Cl2 and Si35Cl37Cl have been observed in a molecular beam. A spectral resolution of 8 MHz was obtained on the Ã1B1 (0, 6, 0) ←X̃1A1(0, 0, 0) transition around 323 nm, which allowed the dense rotational structure of this electronic transition to be completely resolved. The rotational constants in the Ã1B1 (0, 6, 0) state reflect the almost 22° opening of the ClSiCl bond angle on going from X̃ to Ã, whereas the Si-Cl bond length decreases slightly.
