Abstract
We present the exact solution for a two-chain quantum spin model with zigzag interactions (or a single chain with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor couplings). Despite the geometrical frustration of the model, the integrability permits us to find an infinite number of integrals of motion using the algebraic Bethe ansatz. Exact results for the ground state energy and elementary excitations are obtained.
