要旨
Research has shown that melatonin, a sleep hormone, has an impact on sleepiness, body temperature, and cognitive performance. However, how melatonin affects cognitive performance to neutral and emotional stimuli, and how time and light separately or jointly affect melatonin have been unclear. This study explored the effect of melatonin on task performance and the effect of light and time on melatonin. This study found melatonin modulates performance in an emotional Stroop task but not a Stroop task. Melatonin modulates reactions to emotional stimuli, but not to neutral stimuli. Moreover, light and time did not influence melatonin. It is expected to study the effect of basal melatonin on social and cognitive tasks further.
