Zusammenfassung
This study investigated net squalene depletion in skin surface lipids of volunteers during indoor ozone exposure in a climate chamber under different levels of temperature, relative humidity (RH) and clothing coverage. Squalene and cholesterol were quantified in skin wipes collected prior to and after the exposure. Squalene, normalized by cholesterol, decreased after exposure to ozone to ~ 90-65% of its original value for all combinations of experimental conditions. The results show measurable and meaningful depletion of squalene in skin surface lipids upon indoor ozone exposure.
