Abstract
In addition to amorphous material and Ba-7[BO3](4-x) F2-3x, air and moisture sensitive single crystals of Ba-7[BO3](3)Br(O-1.33 F-1.33) were formed from H3BO3, Ba(OH)(2), BaF2 and BaBr2 . 2 H2O in alumina crucibles open to the atmosphere at 1300 K for 13 h. Ba-7[BO3](3)Br(O1.33F1.33) crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P6(3)mc (no. 186, Z = 2) with the lattice parameters a = 1118.1(2) and c = 723.93(13) pm. The Raman spectrum of the title compounds was also acquired and is compared to literature data.
