Abstract
Investigation of three-dimensional structural changes in LiFePO4 batteries by means of X-ray tomography. Safety and durability are key issues in the development and application of lithium ion batteries, especially in automotive industry. Batteries are investigated after electrical short-circuit and after overcharging by means of X-ray tomography. The study reveals different mechanisms of inner structural damages. Commercial LiFePO4 batteries have been chosen for the investigation because they are widely used in different applications.
