Abstract
The transport properties of relativistic protons in the precursor of a supernova remnant shock are investigated. The growth of magnetic waves via the nonresonant cosmic-ray current-driven instability is simulated using high resolution magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations. The resulting diffusion of relativistic protons in the non-uniform field is investigated numerically, and the asymptotic diffusion coefficients are determined.
