Abstract
We studied ionization of several nobel gases and molekular nitrogen by linear polarized intense femtosecond laser pulses at different wavelengths (800 nm and 1300 nm) and peak intensities. By measuring the vector momentum distributions of ions and electrons we are able to observe differences in the "rescattering" mechanism due to the different electronic structures of the target atoms. These different "rescattering"processes are (e,2e)-like process or electron excitation with subsequent tunneling of the second electron, which can easily be distinguished by the momentum distributions.
