Abstract
It has been well recognized that the activity and selectivity of a supported catalyst depends dominantly on its dimension or size. It is crucial to get an unambiguously accurate particle size distribution (PSD) in order to fully understand catalytic performance. Many scientific methods have been applied to determine the PSD. In terms of the currently most popular HRTEM analysis in the catalysis community, we found imperfections that can result in an inaccurate PSD. Towards a more accurate PSD, we propose that its alternative counterpart, HAADF STEM, will be a better tool in a series of microscopy work, which is crucial for a full understanding of the catalytic performance of supported metal catalysts
