Abstract
222Rn is a main background source especially for experiments with small count rates and expected low energetic signal events. 222Rn emanates from all detector materials containing trace impurities of 238U. Therefore it is necessary to determine even low radioactivities of radon. In this work the amount of radon decays is measured with a proportional counter and from that the radioactivity is determined with the help of an unbinned Maximum Likelihood analysis assuming various Likelihood functions. Furthermore methods for the error estimation will be discussed and based on the concept of hypothesis tests the validity of the used likelihood functions for the given data set is investigated.
