.docx files are Microsoft Word 2007 documents. Virtually all PC users have access to this software making it the most common word processing file format.

A number of software packages are able to read/write data in Word format, a selection of these is provided below:

• Apple Macintosh: Microsoft Excel - see www.microsoft.com/mac/wordx/
