Abstract
The book contains two main sections, which present the methodology of comparative research in this field and its basic concepts, and the genesis of national drug policies in eight European countries, respectively. Although the selection of countries did not arise from analytical considerations and therefore does not cover the European area in a representative way, it does illustrate the wide variety of modern drug policy constructions and thus makes an inventory of the numerous factors involved in drug policy making and drug policy development.
