Abstract
The present paper describes the development of in-ring reaction measurements at the Cooler-Storage Ring of the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL-CSR). A Silicon (Si) detector has been developed with cost-efficient methods to meet the requirements of Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) conditions in a storage ring. The UHV-Si detector and luminosity monitor Si(Li) detector were installed at the experimental cooler storage ring (CSRe). The pilot in-ring reaction experiment about proton elastic scattering on Ni-58(19+) ions has been operated successfully with the basic detector system in inverse kinematics, which opens an opportunity for in-ring reaction measurements at the HIRFL-CSR. This is an important step towards realizing in-ring reaction measurements with large Si detector arrays at the next generation High Intensity heavy ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF).
