1 The first East African Community (‘EAC I’ or ‘Community’) was created through the Treaty for East African Co-operation of 1967 (‘EAC Treaty’) by the republics of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. It was the first major attempt at regional integration in East Africa in the post-colonial era, though it was preceded by many cooperation efforts.
