Abstract
In Arabidopsis thaliana, the fertilized egg cell or zygote elongates approximatelyrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressthree-fold before it divides asymmetrically. The two daughter cells differ in size androtein Degradation targeting undruggables congressfollow different developmental routes.rotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressWhile the smaller apical cells forms the spherical pro-embryo, the cells of the basalrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congresslineage continue to divide horizontally to form the stalk-like suspensor.rotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressZygote elongation and suspensor formation is regulated by a MAP kinase pathwayrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressincluding the MAPKK kinase YODA (YDA).rotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressYDA activation depends on the membrane-associated receptor-like cytoplasmicrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congresskinase SHORT SUSPENSOR (SSP) which accumulates transiently in the zygote afterrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressfertilization. SSP transcripts on the other hand accumulate specifically in sperm cellsrotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressprior to fertilization, suggesting an intriguing mechanism of YDA activation: SSProtein Degradation targeting undruggables congresstranscripts seem to be inherited during the fertilization events and subsequent SSProtein Degradation targeting undruggables congresstranslation in the zygote might link fertilization with YDA activation.rotein Degradation targeting undruggables congressWe will present our latest findings on the regulation and function of the YDArotein Degradation targeting undruggables congresspathway in the Arabidopsis embryo.
